Cream Cheese Glaze (Elderberry and Raspberry Pear Balsamic)

Most people associate balsamic vinegar with dipping oil or salad. Did you know it could also be used for dessert? Here is a frosting we created with our Elderberry and Raspberry Pear Balsamic Vinegar Flavors. The glaze tastes great on top of a variety of simple sweet cakes. We also love the bright colors of the frosting,

Cream Cheese Glaze

To make your balsamic glaze start by making a basic cream cheese frosting but without the vanilla as your flavor will come from the balsamic vinegar.

Blend together until rich and creamy:

  • 4 ounces or 1/2 cup unsalted butter (typically one stick)

  • 8 ounces or 1 cup cream cheese (typically one package)

Slowly blend in 4 cups of powdered sugar resulting in a nice thick and sweet frosting.

Stir in 1/3 to 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar (depends on how thin you want your glaze to be).

The tangy balsamic will balance the sweetness of the sugar, give it a fruity taste and a lovely berry or light pink color.

Our photo shows that we spread the glaze on lady fingers. You can also spread or drizzle it over pound cake, bundt cake, or angle food cake.
